The Academy of Family Physicians of India (AFPI) is committed to addressing the healthcare challenges in rural India through innovative, sustainable, and community-focused approaches. Our Rural Health Initiative aims to bridge the gap in primary healthcare services by empowering rural healthcare professionals and promoting family medicine as a cornerstone of rural healthcare delivery.

Key Objectives

• Strengthening Primary Care: Provide comprehensive, continuous, accessible care to underserved rural populations.
• Capacity Building: Train rural healthcare providers in family medicine, equipping them with the skills necessary to address diverse healthcare needs.
• Community Engagement: Partner with local communities to create culturally sensitive and effective health interventions.
• Sustainable Healthcare Models: Develop and promote scalable cost-effective healthcare models across different rural settings in India.

Programs

• Rural Medical Fellowship: A specialized training program for doctors who wish to serve in rural areas, focusing on practical skills and community health.
• Telemedicine Services: Expanding access to healthcare through telemedicine consultations and remote patient monitoring, ensuring quality care reaches the remotest villages.
• Health Camps and Mobile Clinics: Conducting regular health camps and deploying mobile clinics to provide on-ground healthcare services and preventive care in remote areas.
